It’s not always easy to be yourself #therewasthislimbo…

Despite the very gratifying news that my application for visa extension was granted – I am allowed to stay in California until July 14, 2017 – I have fallen both into a sort of limbo and into a deep hole. This has paralyzed me. So it was a bit quiet and thoughtful inside of Kiki – as well as in Kiki’s blog … Continue reading “It’s not always easy to be yourself #therewasthislimbo…”

Bay View and Red Hill Loop. Spring.

After weeks of shivering and countless rain drops, finally spring has arrived! But the rain did a nice job and everything is in blossom and green – so the contrast to the blue sky and the bright sunshine is simply beautiful! Let’s get outside!

I meet my friend Julia. She comes from Salzburg. Yes, Salzburg, my home town in Austria. Isn’t it a small world we’re living in? Matthias is not allowed to come with us. He has a sore throat and fever and must stay in bed. So poor! Continue reading “Bay View and Red Hill Loop. Spring.”

Tidy! Thanks to E-Werkstatt.com!

“Clean your room, clean up your mess!” – Who does not know this sentence? Now and then every child was banned in it’s room to tidy up the chaos. So was I.

When I was send to tidy up I stood in my ruined room, looking at the mess and not knowing where to start. First i sighed. Then I decided to put my drawer’s content on the floor, next to the rest of my lack of discipline. Continue reading “Tidy! Thanks to E-Werkstatt.com!”

Excitement in Sunnyvale

“Huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuh….?” I moan as an answer. But what was question? I’ve not the slightest idea. It is dark. Probably night. Where am I? Who am I? Beeing drowsy I keep trying to find the answers to my questions. “Wha…”

“Shush!” whispers Matthias and I can feel his hand on my mouth, forcing me to be quiet. Starteled I find my way back from my dreams in our bedroom.

“What…”

“Shuuuuuush!!!!!” He increases the pressure of his hand on my mouth. “I believe there is someone in our apartment!” he whispers.

Daily routine. What can you do at Stanford except studying? Conversation/Weekly movie night/Having free dinner…

It is time to report of my everyday life! Meanwhile I have a lot on my plate. I mean, yes, sure, I have big plates – so why not putting a lot of food on it? But hey, I tried to use an idiom! An English expression! I am not native – so isn’t that great? But just in case my idiom isn’t an idiom and all of you just think I eat a lot…here we go: I’m quite busy! Have a lot do! Got it? Good 🙂 Continue reading “Daily routine. What can you do at Stanford except studying? Conversation/Weekly movie night/Having free dinner…”

Lands End Trail – Cataract Falls – Weekend – Sunshine

“Ooooooooh! The sun is shining!” Matthias und Kiki are happy.

We have not seen the sun for a long time! Just as in Austria is the coldest winter since years, here is it rainy! And it does not just trickle, no! The rain pours down out of the sky. That is so impressive so I often press my nose against the window for a minute, or two, to watch the spectacle out there. California, despite numerous flooding and road blockages, is delighted as the drought (existing for years) is over.

The land needs the water, but we are thirsting for dry feet and sunshine. So, let’s go out there! Continue reading “Lands End Trail – Cataract Falls – Weekend – Sunshine”

Russian Ridge

Matthias is fit again AND the sun is shining! It’s time for a trip!

Together with our Mexican friends Maria and Omar, we join a group full of joyful hikers climb the Russian Ridge. Okay, it’s more strolling than climbing as it isn’t that steep. But it is nice and quite close to Stanford.

First we have to get familiar with the safety precautions …

…but then Continue reading “Russian Ridge”
