Montara Mountain North Peak, McNee Ranch Trail. Summer.

Winter. That means I don’t need not only a flannel pyjama but also a second blanket as well as a hot water bottle to get warm feet and find some sleep. And it has been winter. Week after week… But finally – spring is in the air!

March. Spring comes.

A few days ago, it got warmer. Yeiii! It was a great pleasure lying in my bed and having warm feet even without this bottle! And outside it is so lovely! The flowers bloom, the sun shines warm from the blue sky and I jumped through spring… And today, Sunday, I (for Matthias is sick) meet friends for another hiking tour in this beautiful nature.

But unfortunately this is not possible. Because spring is already over again.

Summer has come!

March. Summer comes.

We perspire uphill, watching our skin turning from pale to red. And it is steep. One part of the group is cheerful chattering and jumping uphill like mountain goats, another part of the group, me, is whisteling and smoking like a steam-enginge. But how couldn’t I – it is so steep! And hot! And no shade!

But it’s nice anyway. Especially the view. You can see San Francisco and even the Golden Gate Bridge.

Then we reach the summit. Hmm. I have the impression the summit cross looks a bit different than in Austria …

But we find a shady spot and enjoy the visibility as well as lunch!

Then we go downhill. Still steep. Still hot. Where is the spring with its fine temperatures? But we do not want to whine! I’m more than glad for the sunshine!

Nevertheless, it is glorious to cool our hot feet in the ocean after the hike.

Hisssssss is the sound our toes are doing when touching the twelve degrees Celsius cool water. After about two seconds they are cooled down, after a further two seconds the pain begins 😉

What a nice day! And tonight I don’t need any warm-up bottle. No. Also the second blanket can be removed and my flannel pyjama is exchanged for a T-shirt. But I’m still hot. I wonder if I perhaps should turn on the air conditioning … yawn … but then I’m already asleep …
